We are serving delicious Caribbean-style cuisine that will include vegan as well as non-vegan dishes with various levels of spiciness (avail. with less-spicy or gluten-free options) from Ottawa’s award-winning BACCANALLE. All profits from ticket sales will benefit this registered Canadian charity. Birdsong original songwriters, performers include: ALLAN KINNEY from Ottawa, JORDAN GOW (Kanata), ASHLEY BELL (Haggersville), JHMAL KING (Toronto) and ROBIN BENEDICT (Hamilton) accompanied by Ottawa bands MOTEL BEN and EVERYTHING BAGEL.

The show is hosted by Executive Producer and Charity Founder MARGARET KONOPACKI and Toronto actor, podcast host and Nicolas Cage stand-in MARCO KYRIS. Nine original videos will be screened during the show and other musicians on stage will include KIM LOVELL, DR. All songs will be released on the first album entitled BIRDSONG NEW MUSIC FOUNDATION FIRST FLIGHT 101. The album includes 12 composers/musicians from across Canada with 20 songs that are unique in the area of originality, storytelling, composition and quality. This album has been four years in the making, due in part to the pandemic. But our vision is to produce one album per year. The three music production studios who have been involved in making this first album are TED ADLER's, Sound Decisions (Ottawa) and NYGEL ASSELIN's NYG Productions (Vancouver) and Didier's B Musique Studio (Toronto).

Says Konopacki: “Imagine for a moment a society that listens to people who live with mental health issues and do not speak for them? Imagine not judging but giving them the opportunity to heal without systemic discrimination because they are different? BIRDSONG gives new hope to many people who are incredibly gifted and need to be given the opportunity to shine through their art. Hope and joy is the greatest gift you can give someone and that is the vision for the foundation. BIRDSONG New Music Foundation creates extraordinary music that heals and transforms. And in the process, all who are involved will benefit from the creative spark that music ignites."

BIRDSONG New Music Foundation was granted charity status by CRA to relieve conditions associated with disability by providing access to music production facilities and related support to musicians/individuals with a diagnosed mental illness – and to undertake activities which are ancillary and incidental to the achievement of the charitable purpose, which includes original music production, music video production, concert production and touring.

People struggling with mental illness are often shamed, discriminated against, and do not share their situation for fear of being stigmatized, losing independence and often jobs as well as friends. BIRDSONG New Music Foundation creates healing through the process of production and performance of original material created by these incredible individuals.

We create hope, and MUSIC is our method of communication for change and empowerment!
